William Torres Fuentes is a dedicated social worker and passionate advocate hailing from Puerto Rico, whose work and life reflect resilience, compassion, and commitment to community. With a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, William has served in diverse professional settings—including community-based organizations, private institutions, and government agencies—bringing critical support to underserved and marginalized populations.
A proud gay Latino man living and thriving with HIV for over 23 years, William is not only a voice of experience but also a powerful force in HIV advocacy and public health. He is a breast cancer survivor, demonstrating unyielding strength through life’s greatest challenges. His leadership has been recognized across various local and national platforms, including his current role as a member of the Southern AIDS Coalition Community Advisory Council. He has served on numerous community advisory boards, contributing his lived experience and expertise to shape health policies and programs that truly reflect community needs.
Outside of his professional life, William is a proud dog dad, a loving “guncle” (gay uncle), and an avid beach lover. He finds peace and joy in gardening and in nurturing the beauty around him. His life is a vibrant testimony to perseverance, love, and service—uplifting others while celebrating his own truth every step of the way.
